In a landmark achievement for sustainable energy innovation, Toruń, Poland has become the first location in Europe to install a Commercial & Industrial (C&I) energy storage system in a single-family home. A New Era of Residential Energy Storage

The centerpiece of the installation is the TRENE air cooling energy storage system, seamlessly integrated with a 100 kWp photovoltaic installation and multiple heat pumps. This advanced setup powers not only the household, but also a bowling alley, swimming pool, and EV (electric vehicle) charging station located on the same property.

This project exemplifies how high-demand homes can benefit from industrial-level energy technologies, reducing both carbon footprint and reliance on the grid.

Energy Efficiency Meets Energy Independence

Prior to the installation, the home’s annual energy consumption was approximately 150 MWh. Now, thanks to the TRENE energy storage system, surplus solar energy is stored and used during peak demand periods, significantly reducing electricity bills and easing the load on the local power grid.

The three key goals of this investment were:

• Maximizing self-consumption of renewable energy,

• Boosting energy independence, and

• Providing backup power during outages.

All three have been successfully achieved, with the C&I ESS solution delivering high performance and reliability.
